Thank you Marlorena. I will bear all this in mind and already you have made me realise I don’t have enough support. It’s just a wigwam made of bamboo canes . Hopefully it will work for this season and then when I have cut them both down I can change the support or maybe even put them in the ground against a wall. I will take photos in due course .

Hi @Wjs57, I've got both bijou and filligree too, love them but unfortunately so do the slugs (particularly the filligree)!
Good luck with the florida, it's a fair bit more tender than other clems

Thanks mikeymustard. I am growing bijou and filigree in quite tall pots and only a day ago bought some copper tape to put around them in the hope that it will deter slugs. Thanks for the heads up re Florida plena too as marjolena said . I will get some horticultural fleece before winter comes and work out a sheltered spot in the garden . At the moment it’s in a pot and not too heavy to move.

That’s a good idea. I may well do the same . It’s much bigger than mine which I bought last year . Do you cut yours back ? I have done nothing to mine.

I do like the combination with the heuchera.

I find the bijou particularly, tends to naturally die right back and puts out new shoots each year. I rather suspect they have a herbaceous/semi herbaceous plant (probably a diversifolia) in their parentage, which would also explain their non self-clinging habit.

It's in the basket on its own this year, as its crown has got a bit big to share nicely. After it's flowered I shall probably hang the basket somewhere quiet and plant it up later as a spring basket for next year 🙂

Thanks for that. To be honest I assumed I had killed it last year and it surprised me by reappearing from literally nothing.

In awe of all the beautiful clematis I see here.  I have never had any luck growing them but noticed a bud on one that I picked up in a diy shop a few years ago.  Any idea of what it might be?  This may be as good as it gets before the inevitable disappearance act!
    Thanks
