I have Fargesia Nitida which has been in the garden for well over 20 years. It is now a clump about 4 feet across at the base but there has been no attempt to escape and throw out runners. That has grown from a single small plant.
I hated maintaining the Leylandii, overgrown and uneven so just had enough and got it cut back aggressively Will stick to Fargesia variety and Nitida looks pretty, thank you. It does make me a little hesitant if I'll struggle when it comes to selling.
I totally understand your hesitancy, but if we all designed our homes and gardens with zero originality, to allay the fears of a potential buyer, the world would be a very bland place indeed. I’m sure we can come up with some good alternatives if you decide against.
@KT53, it is a physical impossibility for your Nitida to run, it’s a genuine clumping bamboo with a totally different root system to the runners, see explanations from myself and Marlorena half a dozen posts back 😊
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.

I agree with you @Nollie and was simply trying to put the OP's mind at rest. The subject of clumping/running bamboo has come up many times, as you will be aware, but that doesn't stop some people claiming that all bamboo will throw runners in all direction and the garden will end up looking like something from 'The Day of the Triffids'.
