I might have a try with some bulbs in the pot - if worst comes to worst I can just pull them out again. Can get a cheap pack from Aldi or Lidl.
I planted lots of bulbs last weekend in the garden, hoping to fill a gap in flowering we seemed to have last year. Early nectar for bees. Only problem is I’ve now remembered that I could do with some more alliums and risk disturbing all the crocus I’ve just planted!Â
I also moved lots of plants around to ‘hopefully’ better spots and got a few accidental divisions potted on.
Shame about the tree @Tack lovely shape. @Nollie lovely pooch
I had a few nice photos to share but unfortunately my camera’s SD card has failed and all the photos have gone from it. It is possible to recover some of the data, but I’ve ordered a new one anyway - that one must be 15 years old and was starting to show signs of wear before it did this.
I got lots done at the plot last week including finally giving the roses some attention. I’m preparing an area for planting my seed grown rugosas.
Really got back into gardening again - I’ve been off it the last few months, aside from being busy, there wasn’t really much I could do.
Less than a month til our baby’s due date so been busy washing and getting everything ready.
Im very behind here! Covid a few months back really wiped my energy, then streaming cold. Roses are all bursting out again though and the bulbs to plant for spring are arriving so im being lured out again! Having dreadful blackspot issues suddenly and ants are causing havoc especially in pots farming big fat aphids and killing any would be aphid predators. Going to have to look at organic methods as they are really doing damage. I realised I forgot to liquid feed which is probably not helping health so ive fed the roses to help and doused in tea! Purple tiger Lady Marmalade, an especially spikey lady!
Lovely roses everyone! Geoff Hamilton: Pleasant apple scent. Growing taller every year.Â
Evelyn:
The Prince : This is the second one I have got it from dewilde.nl. This one had a rootstock growth as a 3rd stem and I have planted without realising it. I had to dig out to remove the rootstock growth at the beginning of May. I was really worried that this may not survive but it’s performing really well than the other one! Look at the charming ‘The Prince’Â
 The Lady Gardener:
Lady of Megginch:
Eden: This the rose caught my attention and brought me towards roses! I was so close to remove it last year as it didn’t put any growth. This has finally improved. Ebb tide: Collette: always in blooms, nice tea scent but bit thorny.Â
William Morris:Â
Mill on the Floss: finally got a medium sized bloom. The stems  are taller but thinner Sceptre’d isle: This is a own root and in its third year. It really amazes me how a thin tiny stem grown in to this beautiful specimen! It’s throwing out long stems well above 5 ft. Always in blooms.Â
Great to see you back Omori and Jessica, you and your roses have been missed, oh and congrats to Mr. V on the forthcoming addition to the family, we’ll sadly be seeing less of you then!
Meanwhile my new baby has been ‘helping’ with deadheading new WS2000 blooms while Uncle Bill continues to be grumpy and a bit growlly, but I think he will come round @Tack.

wow the rose season going on... lovely pics from everyone.. liked Omori's shots..
@Nollie regarding pot planting of bulbs.. do you tidy up the top soil of roses before spring.. I kinda freshen the soil a bit. This time I had to remove all my cuttings before that and most cuttings were lost in the process.. something to consider before planting on the same pot as roses... In my opinion a topsoil change would do good for pot roses.. and it would become an issue if something else is planted alongside...
that puppy is pure love..
Interesting to see that some old DA's are still available.. I believe they changed the description of 'Bring me Sunshine' after all the complaints they got...
LEH sold out in a little over two hours. MW was gone in 20mins of the notification emails going out. 300 roses, gone in 20mins! FB is full of people sorrowful they couldn't buy MW or LEH during their lunchbreak. Also one person crowing they had bought 4 LEHs, another 9 MWs for mass planting. Now who in their right mind wants nine of them?😄
The dastardly masterminds at DA are behind this panic-buying frenzy, I am sure!
It has really put me off ordering any roses till Jan/Feb, actually. My husband will be ever so pleased.
