My last west facing one, never got very hot
Swings and roundabouts. Today is 8c outside, completely overcast, was raining most of the morning
It's 17c in the bungalow and 20c in the conservatory
I can't spray in there,we have laminate flooring everywhere.

Balgay. no-on has mentioned temps on here, although I have asked. I have a digital in/out thermometer for plants, its in shade in both aspects.Even today it's 17.7c in my conservatory.(8.7c outside) no heating on. Comfortable for me and the plants!!! I have tested it with my "cooking" thermometer it is pretty accurate. Mine is north facing the sun is too low at the moment to get above the bungalow.
I thought you had posted a temp of 44c yourself?

I said in summer it gets up to 44c. By may all the plants are outside. Nothing survives in my south facing porch. I've never checked the temperature in there,we have had the door and window open in there almost a week now.

How did you measure that temp?

On the digital in/out thermometer as I said and checked it with the cooking thermometer for accuracy,in the shade.

That's a very high temp. I have a Bearded Dragon, and it has a basking spot of around 40c, but the actual air temp is around 30c in the vivarium.  44c would kill my BD. I've measured the spot temps in my house under direct South sun but never get more than 30c.

Balgay. I know it is,bring him round,my daughter and grandkids love them. Her friend used to have two. As I said today is 20c in there. Which is lovely. The lantern roof is now very tall. Although the conservatory faces north, the front faces south ,,(obviously) and come may the sun is coming in the right in the morning, then full on all day then over to the west for the evening. Last year we treated ourselves to a proper air conditioning unit,we already had an air coolant, you put ice and water in. We also have a small fan. It's a bungalow,so no heat being wasted in the winter,it's at least double if not triple A rated glass, windows, doors, cavity wall insulation, and we're having solar panels installed on Friday. We're in a village just outside Eastbourne, which had almost 200 hours of sun last year. I've had scented pelargoniums out in pots in the front garden 8 years, they aren't hardy. Last Friday we were on the beach in t shirts. The postmen wear shorts all year!next time it's sunny,I will measure the porch temperature. I will pop updates on here. Where do you live? I expect it's all the glass,I can't remember the bungalow temperature,I did check them last year.

So sorry @Nanny Beach didn't bookmark this thread so missed the posts. 😊
Yes I have blinds on the ceiling,  but only shading film on top third of full length glass walls.
The sun gets around to the conservatory by about 11ish ( up till this year there was a 100 foot Ash casting shade till 1pm) so expect it to be hotter earlier this year.
Closed it can reach 44°, but I have double sliding doors one side, and half height opening windows opposite.
It is good in spring for planting seeds, gives them a good start, but in summer it is too hot for most plants.

Hello Purplerallim, not to worry. I think people think I'm fibbing about the temperatures, haha.we will soon get sun by 6am right round to 6pm.  Funny, because the experts all reckon you don't get sun in a north facing garden.

I don't doubt you at all all nanny b. Our neighbours across the road (basically opposite so a mirror image of our layout), have a much larger conservatory than us and it faces north east. I would be surprised if it only gets to 44c, it usually feels much hotter tbh. It's only this way because they spend (or did before lockdown) lots of time away and it's therefore doesn't get any air to it. Even when they are there it has little in the way of ventilation apart from a sky vent and double doors (which is a small proportion lf the glass).
