  • Do you mulch that border with homemade compost?  That's how I discovered that when my OH removed the spent forget me nots from the back garden one year he put them on the compost heap ... the following year we had forget me nots in the front garden too 😂

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

  • @Dovefromabove, not really.  It's under a Hazel Tree and near a bird feeder. Ooh, there's a thought?   We only feed sunflower hearts, though. Would they sprout and stay green throughout autumn and winter, frost snow? 🤔

The pigeons have done for the grass under the bird feeder and the area is covered in daisy seedlings. Less to mow, pretty flowers. Result!
    In London. Keen but lazy.

    No - sunflower hearts don't sprout  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Thanks @Fairygirl. I've done as Dove suggested and potted one up. Will see what happens.

Yes - only the 'full' sunflower seeds are viable.
Let us know what happens.  :)

Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
