Can anyone ID this weed please?

(Posted in another category, lots of views, no responses)
This smothers a shady section of my East facing border. It doesn't flower. The leaves start off fairly small, a bit like lambs lettuce, but do grow if left undisturbed. It spreads quickly too. My plant finder app and leaf identifier app haven't come up with anything useful.  Any thoughts, please. 😊

    They look a lot like forget-me-not seedlings.
    But if they never flower, they can't be

  • That's my thought ... all green plants (except ferns) produce a flower of one sort or another ... so possibly these look quite different by the time they flower .... 🤔

    They do look familiar, but I can't put a name to them.
    Maybe keep an eye on them regularly, and wait until they flower, if no one can give a definitive ID @Nel_Staffs, because they will produce a flower of some kind, as @Dovefromabove says.  :)

    Same to you @Dovefromabove- with knobs on...  :D
    It looked a bit knapweed-y too, but the flowers on those are very noticeable.

  • Thanks all who've replied. I know its not bellis nor forget me not.. Had bellis many many years ago. Currently, have forget me nots.  These weeds pop up every year from late autumn and stay there, growing taller and  spreading, unless I remove them. I've just had a concerted hoeing session this morning.  They're tenacious little wotsits!

    I thought bellis but if it's not, then I don't know. I don't think they're quite right for forget-me-not - mine have narrower leaves without that little pointy bit at the end.

    Have a look at this page http://theseedsite.co.uk/seedlings5a.html (and there are more if you click Next at the bottom) to see if anything's a match
    Whatever it is, if yours haven't ever reached flowering stage then there's probably another source of seeds (unless you have a huge reservoir of seeds in the soil), so maybe have a peek over fences at what's growing nearby, or ask your neighbours, if they're gardeners and might recognise it. It might just be something nice (although usually if it's prolific like that, it's not!)

    Maybe pot a few up and grow them on to see what happens ... just in case they turn into something glorious ... ?

  • Thanks @JennyJ. I fear its a massive reservoir.  😱.
    @Dovefromabove, that's a good idea! Thank you, I will try that. 😊
