    On staffed tills I can generally pack faster than they scan because I can put things onto the belt in the order I want to pack them.  That's really not a practical proposition with self-scan tills.  It may be different using hand held scanners as you go round, but bottom line is I'm not paid to operate the tills and, more often than not, I'll have something in the basket which needs to be approved anyway.

    Looking at the latest anti-female atrocity perpetrated by the Taliban, I'm even more convinced that the leaders cannot be sane. Is the leadership dynastic? Do they breed with very close relatives?

  • Yes -  close relatives such as dinosaurs - altho I could be judged as a Dinosaurist I suppose  ;)

    Amazing how much appalling behaviour is/ has been done under the umbrella of religion
    Devon.
  • @Hostafan1 I'm afraid I don't find it amazing/ surprising. We are all entitled to follow our chosen religion ( if any ) but enforcing it on others, particularly in such an inhumane and mysogonistic manner seems par for the course in some countries.  Impossible to disagree without endangering your own life or that of your family and friends.
    Sorry - you will know all this so rant over - for now anyway  ;)

    @philippasmith2, you're right
    Pretty much every religion in history from Incas, ancient Egyptians and certainly Christians have done more in the way of "crimes against humanity" than any other groups
    Devon.

    KT53, the amount I was charged makes no sense. Says PO fee for driving license renewal is £17, but free over 70. It has been renewed from last Tuesday,till the 23rd October,6 weeks. So someone has messed up. I don't know if it's the post office, going there first. Letter with license says you can return it to them if your name or address is incorrect,no mention of the date. I paid a fee,I request the service.

    as you see the £17 is the DVLA fee, but you don't pay over 70. This is the official post office site.
