Lizzie27, the organisation wasn't chaotic, there was none! I used to be quite good at keeping the young doctors in check. Mind you, they all look about 15 now. (I know, I know that's a sign of old age 😄)
I agree about it chaotic, About 3 months ago they told my son he was cured from his incurable illness, so they didn’t do his 6 month treatment, told him to reduce the tablets he was in, now he’s feeling tired, listless all the symptoms, had blood tests done to see how it was, results back, his cholesterol is a bit high, No mention of what the tests were done for.

I wonder who regulates the Practice Managers? Is it likely to be one of the GP partners themselves? If you could find out, it might be worth escalating a formal complaint about the Practice Manager and the way the practice has deteriorated.
I might take up your suggestion with my local practice. I have just been to another nearby group and registered with them because of the way I was dealt with recently. The poor service has been an issue for me for a long time so I have changed groups. The difference in the way I have been spoken to and dealt with shows it is possible to run a Health group efficiently and sympathetically. I know it is not the fault of individual receptionists etc. it is the powers that be that organise the setup. I am going to give thank you cards to two people in the old group who have been brilliant, a receptionist and a trainee Dr. who looked after me and got me into hospital immediately. After my initial request to speak to a Dr. I was told they were busy and it was Bank Holiday so I would be contacted in 5 to 10 working days. Because I had already had breathing problems for several weeks it wouldn't hurt for me to wait a few more days.( I was having a heart attack). When I said that wasn't good enough, she said she would prioritise my request. I was in fact contacted three weeks later. Not good enough so I have now changed doctors.
It's called integrity @KT53. Ken Clarke grew up with Labour sympathies - his grandpa was a Communist - but he ended up joining the Conservatives but about as far left as one can get with very liberal views on politics and economics. He's also pro European and had the Conservative whip withdrawn in 2019 for voting against the govt. He's sat as an independent since.
Career politicians are in it for the bucks and the contacts which lead to more bucks when they leave parliament rather than for the job of representing their constituents or doing what is best for society at all levels.
I certainly couldn't have put that any better @Obelixx
I was watching a programme about Dorset earlier this evening. The voiceover is done by Alan Titchmarsh and he was waxing lyrical about the wonders of re-wilding and how good it is for nature. Only a couple of days ago I was reading an article in which he was saying it's disastrous for wildlife. Which does he believe, if either?
Our NHS experience has been very mixed. Superb treatment when my wife broke her leg on Saturday, but it seems like one hand doesn't know what the other is doing since. She was originally told they would schedule surgery for Sunday, or Monday at the latest. On Sunday she was told it would be Monday. On Monday she was told it would be Tuesday and later told it wouldn't be Tuesday. She finally had surgery today - successfully. We appreciate that life can get in the way of scheduled surgery but it would help if they at least said why it was constantly being changed. Talking to one of the staff today we get the impression they wanted the swelling to go down before they operated. We have no problem with that, just let us know please.
Our local surgery is another fiasco altogether. My wife was supposed to have a telephone consultation on Monday, which I obviously needed to cancel. I tried phoning only to get the message that their phone lines were exceptionally busy and they had a number of staff off sick. Must be the most unhealthy surgery in Britain because that seems to be standard message if you try to call. I therefore went to one of the satellite surgeries where at least you can see the receptionist without having to literally queue for half an hour. I explained I needed to cancel the appointment and she said "I think all telephone consultations have already been cancelled for today". This was obviously news to me and, had I not called in, we would probably never have been notified. The only very slight positive is that my wife has finally been given a face-to-face appointment, at the very end of August!
I wish the news story about Nigel Cabbage would run its course one way or the other. I can't bear to look at him in the news site😖
If there was any justice in this world he'd have his money taken away entirely and be forced into a life of community service.
On a totally unrelated topic a castle has come up for sale near me. It was the last castle ever built in the UK and was intended to defend rich industrialists from being murdered by the workers they were exploiting for profit. Simpler times...
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
My OH had a dental appointment today at 1.15pm. Arrived 10 mins early. Saw the receptionist and sat down. After about an hour he asked her how long it was going to be because he might have to move the car. She'd forgotten he was there!
I completely forgot Book Club today! I belong to 'SpaceMages' at the local library (sci/fi and fantasy). It wasn't till someone on tv went to a library that the penny dropped - 3 hours too late. I'll pop in tomorrow and apologise.
