Well that’s proper conservation practice … provide the right conditions … including plenty of suitable prey, and the predators can survive too.

If we wipe out all the little things… be they birds, animals or insects … there’s nothing for the bigger ones to eat.

    You’ve got a wildlife paradise there 💚

There’ll be more than that by now … they breed like … 🐇 🐇 🐇 … keep an eye open for buzzards … they love a bit of fresh coney 🦅

    Rabbits have lots of fun
Coz there are lots of them
Why are there lots of them
Coz they have lots of fun.

We have foxes. They haven't learnt to catch pigeons yet. However, they seem to raid black sacks.
  • I've considered netting, but I hate the idea of birds getting trapped, and dying. I stick up for the small birds - and even the large ones normally. But this year, the pigeons have been extra greedy. I resent putting all my work in to feeding their voracious appetites.
Another odd one for me is that netting reduced my crop because of the lack of pest control from small birds.
That's an interesting piece of information. Thank you

What a glorious view, Hostafan! I’m afraid I love the rabbits, although we only have three regular visitors. Perhaps our local foxes are more successful than yours.

Or maybe they are getting them, it’s just they do it when you’re not around … there might be even more rabbits if the foxes weren’t getting them 🐇 🦊

Maybe once the baby foxes grow up, the balance might shift

I thought the timing of the arrival of baby foxes was in line with the seasonal glut of baby rabbits to be fed to them?
