    .parking apps😠
Having parked free of charge in an M&S car park, I wandered into the pay car park to see how the pay app thing worked. On the machine, there were instructions on how to download the app and then in small print they mentioned a 20p surcharge for the convenience of using the f@#£ing app!

Buying a new umbrella works really well too - and much less effort.

And for the opposite effect, if rain is desperately needed, get the mower out!
Or even just think about getting the mower out! Forecast was fine for this morning when I checked yesterday. Plans were made. Plans had to change.

When our local council first introduced the option to pay by card there was a 20p surcharge to do so.  It even applied when the machines wouldn't accept cash - which happened all too regularly.  When I complained to staff at the car park they said I'd have to write to the council to complain, same was said when cash was accepted and the machine gave short change.  Clearly the council on a winner there because it would obviously cost far more to write and complain, than the amount lost.

Guess what, my new sonic deterrent device I bought to deter squirrels, doesn't. Had a very nice, apologetic email back from the company telling me that squirrels hear on a different frequency to most small animals/rodents and that no sonic deterrent will work.
Interesting, I had wondered if that was the case.

Oh well, I'll set it to deter cats/rats instead

A device which makes a loud bang, accompanied by lots of little balls might stop the squirrel.  Just joking, well half joking.

a device which makes a moderate bang accompanied by a small lead pellet works a treat

Are air rifles legal now? I used to be a pretty good shot. Never shot anything live though but I would be awful tempted..

Air rifles are legal but you have to ensure that the pellet doesn't leave the property upon which you are shooting.  You can shoot grey squiggles as they are classed as vermin.
