2% rise, factoring in inflation, IS a pay cut

    2% pay rise this week.
No triple lock upgrade for me
5% for me last July. 0% for my OH!

Sister-in-law works for Primark.  10% pay rise coming.  Younger staff (not sure how young it goes down to) get the same pay as the 23 and overs too.

Quite right if they're doing the same work as the older staff with the same level of responsibility.
Annual salary review is going on now, no idea what I'll get yet but I'd be very surprised if it's above inflation.

Relative has just been awarded a pay rise based on excellent annual review. Company told her that they couldn’t run to the 8% her performance review indicated, so will have to settle for 7.8%. She’s not complaining!

That's what my sister-in-law said.  She did make an exception for the 'weekend kids' who are mainly 16 and17 years olds, as she says they put more effort into avoiding work than they do into actually achieving anything.

I see that pathetic scumbag who murdered 9 year old Olivia wouldn't even come up from the cells for sentencing.  He shouldn't have been given the choice even if he had to be trussed up and dragged into court.  Hopefully they would then drop him a few times on the way back out.  The only good news is that apparently there is a £250k bounty on his head to shut him up permanently.  At least he won't be able to rest easy once he is in prison.

I've taken steps to ensure dry weather. I used up a load of stored water on cleaning jobs and bought a new butt. This should give us at least 6 weeks with no rain. £19.99 for the butt though which is the same cost as last year. Inflation my butt.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Buying a new umbrella works really well too - and much less effort.
    In London. Keen but lazy.

And for the opposite effect, if rain is desperately needed, get the mower out!
