Well I might just go again if it gets less busy as a result of the name change :)

It's probably a ploy to confuse the English so they stop going there and parking everywhere they shouldn't.

I agreed with you @JennyJ, we visited a couple of years ago and it was absolutely packed to the gunnels. Saw a long, long line of hikers queuing to get to the top! We didn't stop.

I visit Eryri (Snowdonia) regularly because I've family there. There are plenty of walks  away from the biggest hills and other famous places, where you see no-one but a few local farmers and dog-walkers even on a fine day. Much nicer!

We were very fortunate when we visited a few years ago in late October.  We got the last 2 tickets on the train which was about to leave and were in the cab with the driver.  Great views up the mountain.  Beautiful sunny day when we got to the top although bitterly cold with a strong wind.  Very different to at the base where it was probably about 12 degrees.  I managed about 5 minutes outside taking photographs before I couldn't feel my fingers.  By the time we were back at the base the cloud had rolled in and we could only see about half way up.  The driver said he'd been driving for many years and could only remember 2 or 3 days in all that time when weather had been clear and sunny at the top that late in October.
They say the sun shines on the righteous, but I've no idea who that was on the train with us. :D

We have walked up Cadair Idris a couple of times .... a tough hike, but we did have the place more or less to ourselves.
    Cracking weather as I remember.

Cadair Idris was my first proper camping trip. I think I must have been about 10 or so. None of us knew anything about camping and our teachers didn't seem bothered if we came back alive or not. Good times.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

I have climbed Snowdon 3 times, always been raining. The last time was via the Crib Goch ridge, which was much more interesting and far less crowded.

I won't even attempt Crib Goch - it looks like it would trigger my vertigo, which isn't fun.
