My dear mother made the mistake of adding a tablespoon of curry powder when the recipe said teaspoon.  We were still sweating a week later.

I upped the coconut milk from 125ml to the full can, 400ml, which helped a little as did more lime juice. Still had me sweating heavily and had to have a thorough session with the electric toothbrush afterwards. Even my OH who thinks anything less than madras is for wimps thought it was a bit hot.
It would seem we have CHILLI POWDER, not made from Carolina Reaper chillis as far as I know but just Waitrose standard packet stuff.

If you make a curry or soup too hot,add some yogurt or cream
  • Have a look in Waitrose ‘Cooks Ingredients’ section for their own Mild Chilli powder … it has a good complex chilli flavour but I’ve found it more suitable for those like my OH whose innards object to the burning fires of hell varieties. 😋

It's good to hear your old friend has been revived.  Handy advice to those of us who don't trade in a phone at the first opportunity as well.

I went to a local garden centre this morning.  They had decided they would stay with card only after Covid.  This morning there were staff at the entrance saying that because the internet was down they were unable to sell anything, but people were welcome to come in and browse.  Normally at that time of day their car park would be packed, and today it was virtually empty.  I wonder how much that short sighted decision to remain card only has cost them?  Hopefully it will encourage them to return to taking cash.
  • @KT53 Non cash parking seems to be spreading.  A very popular beach not far from here will not accept cash at their parking machines.  Someone recently drove into the car park and found they couldn't purchase a ticket with cash, drove out and went to another parking area where they found the same thing so again, drove out and left the area.  They received a notification for a £60 fine despite the fact that they didn't actually park !!
One wonders why new coins are being minted to celebrate Charles when it is getting more and more difficult to actually use them in everyday life.

I've stopped visiting local towns that have phone only parking fees. I can't be bothered to download the various apps. Seems it's a different one for each borough and we border several. I don't mind the pay by card ones. In fact it's easier.
    In London. Keen but lazy.
