Well if those pesky meddling Christians hadn't buggered about with Samhain in the first place we'd all be a lot happier. The Americans can't claim to have invented Halloween or trick or treating but they did add their unique brand of excessive consumption to it.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
Our local Sainsbury was selling big pumpkins at 10p yesterday previous price £3. We have plenty of our own otherwise I might have been tempted to get one to make soup. The trouble is they will be overprinting something else to make up any loss.
Just tried to phone for a GP appointment. 27th in the queue and advised to use e-Consult. After 10 minutes of repeatedly entering the same information on multiple screens and selecting options which are totally irrelevant to my situation I gave up on that route too. All I'm trying to do is get a previous medication reinstated - on the recommendation of my Consultant. The Consultant said the GP would have to do it.
This is a pathetic curmudgeon, I know, but I wasn’t very happy! Hospital appointment this morning, and I had decided to wear a skirt to try and preserve what is left of my dignity. Managed to find a skirt at the back of the wardrobe, found a jumper to go with it and left them ready for this morning. At the last minute, I decided the jumper was too warm, and changed it for an alternative top, and grabbed a coordinating cardigan to wear with it. Halfway down the dual carriageway, I happened to look down and discover that I was wearing a khaki cardigan that didn’t go with either the top or the skirt. If you knew me, you’d know that I do try to make an effort when I go out in public, I was ridiculously upset! ( This doesn’t apply in the garden, where I wear whatever is warm, dry and thorn proof, and generally look rather like Worsel Gummidge)
Quick update on trying to get through to the surgery. I tried after lunch and was only number 8 in the queue and actually got through in under 5 minutes. Spoke to a very nice lady to explain the situation. She checked my notes and because I've had the same medication in the past x years she can simply get the pharmacist to do a new prescription. That saves bothering the GP.
Glad that got sorted @KT53, I was going to suggest you hand wrote a note to your GP and dropped in the surgery letterbox, might be quicker than waiting on the phone. We are very glad we can do online repeat prescription requests at our surgery.
Big curmudgeon today but it's my own fault, I had to cut the wires on the wall (which is now a bit dodgy) holding the wisteria and now it's blowing a hoolie out there. I did realise that was going to happen at some time over the winter but thought the wall took priority. Not sure what we're going to do about it.
@Ergates, don't worry about it, no-one will ever remember what you wore and in the scheme of things, it isn't important. Hope your consultation went well.
Thanks, Lizzie27. Consultation went well, but as expected, will need some surgery. Two options to consider, which is one too many for me! Lots of reading and research to do now. I agree, I’m sure absolutely no one else notices or remembers what I wear, but I do! I get pathetically excited when I find something like a scarf or necklace that ‘goes’ really well with an outfit ( makes OH laugh, but not so much when I’m getting picky about paint colours in our home) I’m probably the same about colour combinations in the garden. I’m not a big fan of the cottage garden look, for example, too disorganised for my liking, whereas I could positively swoon with delight at some of the all white gardens I’ve seen pictures of, or flower arrangements in shades of pinks through to purples.
