Mine has that @B3, and I don't like it either. It also has an extra 'thing' which [in theory] means that the brake should stay on for around 20 seconds when you're making a hill start.
It doesn't. Unless the hill is steep enough. Another useless piece of rubbish  :|

My handbrake is a little flip up thingy in the centre console. Took me ages to get used to that and if I'm honest I still don't trust it.

Ooh I really wouldn't fancy that. Is there any kind of back-up if it fails?

Someone broke into my car many years ago - smashed the side window and took 2 mint humbugs and about 30p in change. If they'd knocked on the door and asked for the money and sweets instead, it would have saved me £100 in glass repairs.

My car has a key. (I am so old fashioned). It doesn't start though, so if any thief is able to get it going, they'd be helping me out, to be honest

? I think we're on the same page. Electronic handbrake bad. Manual good. Too many useless electronics.
Worse than a backseat driver who has never driven a car but is a font of useful advice and timely warnings. At least the electronics don't take the hump if you tell them to shut up they just ignore you.

I don't like the electronic handbrakes either but I will admit I'm impressed by how it tightens up as the brakes cool even if the car is turned off and locked.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Not sure what you mean wild edges. I'm not mechanically minded.

    Never mind fuel or utilities..

Mind you - they obviously don't look at prices where I live. Our chippy has been nearly a tenner for a haddock supper for ages, and the special [my preference]  is £11.50.
Big enough for two people though  :D

Indeed @KT53 , except that would be an optional extra -at several grand, no doubt.
I hate the amount of technology in cars. They'd be half the price they are if you didn't have all the rubbish in them that they have - much of which is completely unnecessary.
I've turned off every warning 'beep' in mine,  and fortunately, it's also stopped the thoroughly pointless light to warn me when 'someone's overtaking', because clearly I'm not capable of looking in my mirrors.... :|
Sounds as if that would’ve been a useful thing to have in the
    van that hit @Hostafan1 ‘s poor Worzle🚗
