My current lec is 20p per Kwh (ie 20p per day for just the energy, without standing charge or tax). It was 14p in 2019 and 2020 and slowly rising through 2021. It was interesting to check.
3p now per kwh for gas - the same as 2019.
Octopus. My DD has remained the same since I joined in 2018 - £60 a month. My usage has fallen.
Hi Bee, blimey that's cheap. I know about that tariff,I'm with Octopus, they are the only company that do it. Anyone watch Sir Trevor Phillips programme on the Cost of Living Crisis? Am thankful,I think it was last September we got letter from LA asking if we'd be interested in solar panels, and we signed up.
My machine doesn't have an economy wash unfortunately, and I also had the problem of powder not dissolving at lower temps. I've been doing the 'dissolving the powder in some hot water' method and that's working, so I'll continue with that. Our soft water possibly, as someone suggested.
I often long for the days when it was easy to deal with utility and phone/insurance companies, because there was very little choice and you just had to suck it up! It's virtually impossible nowadays to work out what the best deals are, and it also varies a lot depending on where you are.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Can’t use powder here, we have a cesspit drainage, the man showed me what happens to powder, it clings to the sides of the pipe and the hole had got smaller and smaller, he had to poke rods down to clear it.
Everything washed at 30° With 2 large tablespoons of soda crystals and cheap Wilco own washing liquid. The soda crystals soften the water you can cut down on liquid.
I cant understand the need for anti bacterial wash, soap is good enough, we were told that at the start of COVID, washing hands with soap was better than alcohol gels.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
I used to do most of my washes at 30C using liquid detergent and softened water (we have a water softener). Clothes etc started coming out covered in greasy grey specks and the washing machine had some minor floods. Turned out the pipes etc were completely gunked up with a disgusting sludge comprising body fats and soap scum.
Engineer said it's a common problem with low temp washes because the water simply isn't hot enough to properly dissolve and take away those residues.
The only solution he could recommend was either regular use of a washing machine cleaner (more energy, water and chemicals) or to do a regular hot wash. Once a week I put towels and bedding through at 60C (90C every couple of months) and that has sorted out the problem.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down

I am currently paying 13p, 7p, 2.8p.
