Flowering in January? š®

in Plants
I keep meaning to askā¦.
My scabious are still flowering. I planted them last April when I moved in and theyāve flowered since last summer.Ā

Is it because weāve had quite a mild winter? When Iāve grown them in pots in the past theyāve always disappeared down to a few leaves and not much else by January.Ā
I also took an Agapanthus out of the border and into a pot to protect it over winter and that has grown since September.Ā
Is it just me getting it wrong or is this normal? š¤

I'm amazed i also had a rose bud open into a beautiful bloom. The gale force winds this past weekend put paid to that though.
I don't really have anything flowering that wouldn't normally be in flower though. Nothing left over from summer/autumn. Snowdrops are a couple of weeks earlier though - just starting to flower now, and in other gardens nearby they've been properly in flower for a week or so. That's early.Ā Ā
Been ridiculously mild- and dry- for this area. We've had less than half of our average rainfall for January, even with the storms.Ā Still wetter than most areas though, as this is the wettest part of the UK.Ā
At least it means the heating isn't on so much!
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I have carnations and fuchsia in flower. It'll be interesting to observe all the oddities in the garden this year because of it.Ā
There are annual rudbeckia in flower around the corner from me and I saw wild snowdrops flowering in the first week of December.Ā Ā
