Thank you all for your quick and varied responses!  I can see that we have only practical, down to earth gardeners here, no pretenders or fashionistas with "all  the gear and no idea"! 😎  I'm going to put some laces in my walking shoes now and job done!

Old trainers or walking boots if proper footwear is needed … and in the summer sometimes sandals but more frequently I’m barefoot on the grass 😉

@steephill … 🤔 isn’t the Ides of March the 15th?  I’m sure it was when I was at school … although I concede that was a long time ago and many things have changed since then … 😉

I've found the trouble with the clogs in summer that my feet get too hot and when I come to slip them off the furry lining comes too. During the winter I wear old walking boots for proper work but the clogs live by the back door and can be slipped on to 'pop out' in.
In summer I have an old pair of slingback sandals with solid soles which are suitable for digging in but my feet tend to get a bit dirty.
I often wish we had a "gardeners loo" so I didn't need to put the boots on and off though.

It’s the 15th of March, May, July and October, and the 13th of the other months.

I do go out in my felt slippers all the time, though I always swear I never will again.

We have a plague of roaming cats in our neighbourhood - one advantage of a super-simple, old Croc-style shoe, is that it's easy to wash off the shit you have stepped in when some nasty little bugger has crapped on your doorstep in the night. Walking boots, slippers and most other type shoes-with-treads are a nightmare.

That’s what I thought 👍 … although you never can tell with these European things … so much has changed since you know what 🤐

Has everyone now got an ad for shoes on this page, assuming you’re not using an ad blocker? Are Hypersoft Sneakers any good for gardening?

I would just flag and move on so that the thread continues to make sense.

Something study and lace up for digging.  Crocs or study sandals for other faffing around.
A good hoeing is worth two waterings.
