  • @Ladybird4 the material/haberdashery shops I used to go to, took the material off the rolls and had it folded up on a 'Remnants table'

Good Morning Bluebells, LB, Debs, SGL & Rubee and all to follow,
Bluebells I’m pleased you had a good sleep after an early night, hope you had some more after your tea,
LB Hope you get all need on your SM trip. I’ll have to ask mum about the term used for the end rolls of material, she often bought fabric for dressmaking, cushion covers & curtains over the years,
Debs Pleased you had a nice day off and got the bookcase you wanted at a reduced price. That’s a beautiful painting, what a wonderful birthday gift.
SGL All the twos, hope that’s a good omen 😊 the days certainly are flying by,
Rubee I hope you & OH slept well,
Looks to be a mild day again, I have some unmentionables to deal with.
    Have a good day everyone.
  • @star gaze lily Oh yes remnants that’s what they were called 👍

    Morning all,

Another late call up for running-around-a-field duties this afternoon. Oh well - another few bricks paid off the mortgage ;)

Mild and relatively dry is forecast here - another gardening day opportunity missed :( Quite a few more bulbs have started to poke through. The lack of snow and sub-zero temps (so far!) is causing a lot of confusion.

    Good morning all.
    Grey outside.
I think that is a beautiful picture @debs64 like looking out of a rain soaked window onto a wild flower meadow in beautiful countryside. I don't think it matters what the bedroom colour scheme is, it's lovely in its own right.

I enjoyed Escape to the Country yesterday, South Norfolk and North Suffolk, our neck of the woods. I'd seen 2 of the houses on Rightmove, still look out of curiosity. They showed our local town, Diss, and a pub where we'd had a pizza and a church that we drive past on our way to Southwold. They showed the haberdashery in Diss and talked to the owner, who I've met. I bought fabric for patchwork there when we were making a patchwork curtain for the church in France.

Morning Chive, Biglad, Hazel and Busy. Hazel, I thought that I could see a little old car - something like a Morris Minor but having looked again I just think its a shrub. It will be a bit like the ghost sheepdog in a picture we talked about a few years back. When I was driving back from'sco this morning Biglad, the presenter on the radio was talking about many flowers appearinf a month earlier than normal and this might cause havoc with the insect and birdlife. Last Spring was a disaster for the bluetit population. Going off my Big Garden Birdwatch their numbers have crashed.
Busy, that must have been a lovely walk down memory lane for you and soon you may be able to recreate those travels for real when you get back to Norfolk on Saturday.

  • @Songbird-1 We used to get Swans on there, but haven't seen them for a few years now.  See the some Geese or herons sometimes.
@Ladybird4 I've just had a look at @debs64 beautiful picture. I can see what you mean about it looking like a Morris Minor. I remember that sheepdog.....couldn't see it at first 😂
@Busy-Lizzie haven't seen yesterday's Escape to the country yet......i have it on record. How lovely you could see parts of where you live and the shop where you go for your fabric.  Won't be long till your in Norfolk with OH. Hope he's keeping well, bet he can't wait to see you.

Although the sun is out again today, it's not as bright as yesterday and certainly not as warm. Just popped out to the bin and it's rather nippy 😨

I didn't do the gardening that I'd meant to do. Instead I went for an hour and a half's walk with my nearest neighbour. She's French and very nice, very chatty. She said she would like to walk with me when I'm free and in France. It will do my French good too. She's been here for over 40 years and knows most of the locals.

She, Annie, said she knew this house when it had a kitchen, small sitting room (now the breakfast room) and 1 bedroom and an elderly couple lived here. P and N bought the house in 1989 after the couple passed away. They converted the attached barn (sitting room) with 2 more bedrooms and the bathroom above, added an extension (dining room) and added the garage, which I've turned into utility room, study and tool room. I showed her round. Her husband built their house.
