I don't know about the copyright laws in Japan,  but if as you say it's an old book and out of print it should be OK.  It's not as if you want to make money out of it.

    Hello,

Thanks very much for your replies. They are very helpful. I have tried to check a bit more. It doesn’t look like it is still in print in Japan, though you can buy used copies. It’s never been in print in English. I’ll start another thread about it.

    Many thanks,

    Chris

I would think that crediting the author and publisher should keep them happy.

Ok, thanks. I’ll be sure to do that.
  • Still hoping for that Everyday Japanese Gardens coffee table book and/or instagram feed, @Kurisu. Thought I'd put it out there since the forum is closing and all.

    😉👍
Yes, Ive just seen that. What a shame.
I have been slowly building up my knowledge (very slowly!). Perhaps an Instagram account would be a good way to start. I just have to think of a decent name. I have one I haven’t used yet. Perhaps putting it out there might galvanise me into action.
