Does anyone know what these are intended for - if I can get the picture in!

What size is the hole posy? I ask because my husband made some tawny owl boxes that were placed in that position.

Very small and long. Perhaps about 3 inches at the open end but  12 inches long. Nothing inside.  Oh! OH says dormouse, but these are up trees!

Apparently, who knew?  Think they might nest in trees and hibernate on the ground?

It is a type of box used by ecologists when surveying for dormice.

Could they be poison boxes for grey squirrels?

I doubt it Balgay.Hill. No ranger worth their salt would use anything like that, they use wire traps and then dispose of greys in a humane way.
