I was only ever influenced once , that was at the ideal home exhibition,  someone doing a kitchen gadget demonstration,  so easy, I could really do with one of those,  it wasn’t and I didn’t really need one of those.  In the bin it went.
Theres a difference between the people who have influenced your life along the way, parents, teachers, bosses,  the modern day influencer just try to convince you that you need the latest equipment.

"Influencer" has negative overtones to me - to do something you don't want to do or to buy something you don't want or don't need.  I'd rather think of people who encourage, inspire and make you happy.  There is too much labelling these days and too many people who follow trends and fashion without knowing their own tastes or desires.

@Plantminded. I agree.  I think this is probably aimed at the young generation who’s parents have faffed around, organising everything for them, after school activities, staying at parties with them, arranging sleepovers,  sorting out their problems, us oldies had to do that for ourselves therefore can cope without someone telling us what we need, or need to do.
Saying that,  I can’t say what best,  maybe running round after your children is best, maybe it makes for a closer bond,  I don’t know,  I can only go by what I see and hear about the young.

The female ones remind me a bit of live Barbie dolls. Not the physique but the dress up perfect dolls with just the right accessories for their perfect fantasy lives.

Yes I agree Lyn, Plantminded and B3. Couldn't have put it better myself.

I think 'Influencer' is completely different from someone who has influenced  ;)

Yes I guess so, it means the latter has succeeded.

That’s what I was trying to get at @Fairygirl.
My dad influenced me a lot with his determination through life he passed that on to me.
things like, if you want something,  you have to work for it,  if you don’t, you didn’t really want it.
There was no pampering in my house despite being an only child.

He sounds like my dad was Lyn. He taught me so much and I knew it at the time but the sad part is that I didn't realise until he had gone just how much.

Oh definitely although I had the privilege of having my dad for nearly 70 years,  luckier than most I should think.
