    I am happy to pay the BBC license Fee
    I’ve just come across the thread ‘Things to watch on the TV’

    Of the last 25 recommendations, 20 were on the BBC. Enough said?

    @Ben Cotto, I concur 100%.
    Maybe those who watch tv, other than BBC can tell us the great stuff we're missing?
    Specific programmes not just " sport " " films " " documentaries " etc

    The dramas are few and far between, I’m not interested in cooking, sewing bits of material, dancing, quiz games, it’s mostly reality stuff that is cheap to make.

    @Hostafan1
    I can add to that list with other people’s rubbish out of the loft, other people’s houses or where they want to move to,  anything with the public,  cheap to make programmes,  and all of what @BenCotto mentioned above.  (Apart from an odd drama)
    So you want to know specific film titles and documentaries?

    I can't think of a single day that I've not had at least 43p worth of entertainment from the BBC.
    Maybe I'm just easily pleased.

    Which is why I’m happy to pay for the licence,  same as I’m happy to pay for children’s schooling, they are our future and happy to pay for other people’s free prescriptions because when I grow up I will get mine free.
    It’s good that you all enjoy what’s on BBC my moneys not wasted then.

    The point about sending journalists abroad is largely out of date now, I think. Apart from very specific instances such as the American elections, the journalists we see are either local or, like Steve Rosenberg, in that country in the long term. Reports from the Tonga volcano are largely by Rupert Wingfield-Hayes who I believe has been based in Tokyo for some time.
    I do find the habit of making them stand in the middle of a traffic island or on a beach in a hurricane rather irritating, largely because it's harder to hear what they're saying. But apart from a handful of the senior journalists who have an international remit - Lise Doucette, John Simpson, James Landale - all of whom I find invariably very interesting to listen to - there is a lot less jet setting these days.

    I think I'm probably an 'Other'. I really can't make up my mind but having read all Ben Cotto's arguments for, I'm still not convinced. The BBC's income from the licence is truly colossal and I don't think we get value for money. The presenters and senior staff at least get eye-watering salaries which cannot be justified.
    I don't watch much on either the BBC or other channels. Maybe two or three times a week. I don't care for much of it and a lot of it seems dumbed down. I never, ever listen to radio. Never watch dramas ,sport or serials. OH only watches the Grand Prix. We sometimes watch documentaries once or twice a week but even those seem to be dumb downed these days. I much prefer to read a book.

    I'm not sure what the answer is.

    My OH has subscriptions to Sky, Netflix and Amazon Prime. He watches a fair bit on all of them. I haven't found anything much that I want to watch on any of them, except the occasional film. Most of what I watch is BBC.
