I've seen references to an uncivilized / cultured world beyond this forum (depending on your viewpoint).
I've had a Google and anything I've found seems boring and rigidly structured.
Where do all these spats/ joining of minds happen? I'm only interested for research purposes, you understand.

@Hostafan1, will either machine go through the spin cycle with nothing in?  It seems very strange that both machines have the same problem.

Yesterday going to the beach, there was a massive hole in the middle of the road, manhole size, and hubby said a foot deep. He managed to swerv round it. If it had been dark world have been a different story. Came home rang ESCC highways, went through all the options "we,are unable to answer your call"(WFH?) to e mail. Got the 'report a problem box' started typing
As soon as I put the locality of the hole and the size,a massive red box filled the entire thing, said it constitutes an emergency,to ring. It wouldn't let me "send" the message. I rang 4 times more. Same, unable to answer. Rang Eastbourne council, town hall. Started by telling the woman, I know it's meant to be reported to ESCC, before I even mention the problem!! Then she said exactly that!!! I repeated, gave her exact details and had to repeat EVERYTHING 3 times. She asked my postcode (remember I did breakdown recovery and air ambulance) said B Bravo, etc, she replied 0 and then what. Said no one else had reported it.!!!! Probably either couldn't get through it fed up with talking to idiots

Nanny Beach you could try using fixmystreet.com to report it.  Allegedly, major road problems are reported to the relevant people quickly.

Switched the telly on this morning - no sound!  Did all the checks to make sure no setting had been changed accidentally but still nothing.  We've had it several years so thought the easiest option would be simply to replace it.  Trying to find 32" TV is extremely difficult.  Review sites sneer at them as only being suitable for small bedrooms - really!?  We don't have space for anything larger, nor do we actually want anything larger.

We have that problem with our tv from time to time, same size, a few years old, sometimes no sound other times no picture, we just unplug it and plug in again and it works!

Does the TV have a sound-out port that you can use to attach an external speaker (assuming the card isn't gone)?

@KT53. I sympathise with the tv shopping. We recently tried to replace our bedroom tv, 39inch diagonal screen, and we discovered that there is a complete lack of sizes between 32 and 43 inch screens. We had a choice of going much smaller, or bigger, but no straight replacement. Luckily, as the screen size is diagonal, the overall size of the 43inch wasn’t as big as we’d feared. Still fits on the table and we’ve got used to the bigger screen embarrassingly quickly. Didn’t think we’d use half of the new features, but the voice search is amazingly efficient!
Good luck with your search. I’d be looking to reconfigure my room to accommodate something bigger if it was me.

If you can't sort the sound externally via HDMI, optical or whatever, then Argos (other shops are available) appear to have a fair few 32" TVs as do Richer Sounds.
