Call me a cynic...but did anyone else think the Chinese Spy story was a timely release to the press? Was there an effort to move old Boris off the front page and replace him with a Labour link to £400k of potentially undercover shenanigans? Anyone ever heard of MI5 releasing stuff to the press like that (instead of having a word in the ear of the politicians involved to caution them as to her background)?
Did we get the two stories - Boris's family covid and Boris doing the right thing - and then the Labour/Corbyn (photo) link to Chi-Spy - as attempts to dislodge partygate from the front pages? I bet Boris is pleased with Andrew and has promised to pay his legal fees if he can keep his profile up there and taking the headlines.
I'm no defender of Andrew, but whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? If the courts decide he's innocent or there's insufficient evidence, will he be welcomed back with open arms? They could have let him gracefully take a break from his titles voluntarily if they thought he was going to clear his name.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
I think the problem with Andrew is that the way he's handled it has been damaging to the royal family. He was known by the press as Randy Andy and he took that as a badge of honour ... he's an arrogant entitled ar$e. Always has been. Folk I know who've come across him socially or at events all agree that he thinks he walks on water.
He said in that awful interview that he'd assist the authorities ... but he hasn't ... he should have said that what has been revealed about his friends is awful and he should have admitted that he'd been a fool for even associating with them ... he could have said that he had no idea that the girls were that young, (I believe they've acknowledged that they were told to lie about their ages).
He should have given the authorities names, addresses, dates etc ... he hasn't .......... he has behaved as if he is invincible (just as Boris has). That belief in his own invincibility is what helped him in the Falklands ... front line soldiers have to be young because most people don't lose that sense of their own immortality until they're around the age of 27 .....Andrew and Boris have never lost it.

I noticed that the Boris debacle was third on the BBC news agenda last night and thought that the Chinese spy story was odd that it only just come out. I could be accused of being cynical too.
Well, p'raps we're going to hear about lots of Chinese takeaways being delivered to No 10 ? But of course, Boris didn't order them ........ as if?!?!?!

They're talking about Wordle on the radio soon. R2. What makes you think it isn't a word? I start with the most commonly used letters and go from there. 4 today.
Re Randy Andy - I wonder how long it'll be before the press reverts to calling him that. While I'd agree with you @wild edges - and it's very dangerous ground, if he was in a different walk of life, he'd at least be suspended while investigations went on. I'd expect that anyone in the armed forces would be pretty p*ssed off if he got to stay in his role, while someone 'ordinary' in that position got bumped to the side . I'm not saying he didn't do his job well when he was in the Falklands etc either, but that shouldn't make you a special case. Just like Novax....

Slated to appear? Don't like that! Has anyone noticed how many words beginning with 'sl' tend to signify horrible things - like slug!
If Boris keeps chancing upon people with covid, he need never face the public again.
