I was going to post what a lovely day it is and how it makes me grumpy because I'm already having to do the plant hokey-cokey into the greenhouse to make the most of it, but then I heard the weather forecast on the radio that said it was actually windy and rainy. I checked the Met Office on Youtube and they're also telling my that my eyes are deceiving me and this sunshine is actually rain. :|  It's 20 degrees in the greenhouse at the moment. I'm thinking about setting up a chair in there and working on the laptop to enjoy it.

I was hoping to mow the lawn for the first time this year.  As advised I had run the mower until the tank was empty to avoid the carb crudding up.  Filled up with fresh petrol, purchased yesterday, and the damn thing won't start. Not even a cough from it.  I'm seriously thinking of replacing it with a decent cordless.  I've had it 8 years and despite being described as 'Easy Start' I've never found it that easy at any time.

We went to  a GC  this morning to buy two large matching blue pots for potted roses. lots and lots of pots available, very few in the right size and none matching. The search continues.

  • @KT53, both Briggs Stratton & Honda,  do a fuel saver/stabilizer, petrol additive and it seems to help starting too. I have had my mower since 1997, and it starts very reliably,  maybe not first pull every time but not far off. I only get it serviced every 3-4 years.

Don't worry, Michael Gove is busy levelling things up. Very soon the foodbanks will be full of £840 rolls of wallpaper.

Narnia weather here today. I went out of the front door to put something in the recycling bin and it was sunny and dry, then I went through the house and out of the back door to empty the compost caddy and it was raining.

After doing battle for a couple of days it finally started and seems to be running OK.  Maybe there was gunk left in the carb despite the tank being empty, and the new fuel eventually broke it down.
