What I think non medics can easily forget, is that in the heat of the moment, we really don't have any time at all to look for information, it is simply, resuscitate them, or, they die.

many times I have been "caught out" and resuscitated someone who didn't want it, or wouldn't benefit from it, but we just don't have the luxury of time.

I have seen 2 young men with do not resuscitate tattooed on them, they didn't mean it!!

Patient information is shared across all of the NHS in Scotland in a single system (SCI Store) which all Health Boards have access to.
I think what makes this possible is that we have a single numbering system, the CHI (the Community Heath Index), across the country which is used for all residents.

SCI Store is an information repository that provides clinicians with secure access to patient information at the point of care. With established communications interfaces with other local systems, SCI Store is used to share:

    • Patient demographics
    • Laboratory investigation reports
    • Radiology reports
    • Treatment logs
    • Clinical documents
    • ADT (admissions, discharge, transfer)

Information in SCI Store is shared within and between Health Boards

SCI Store is implemented in every NHS Health Board in Scotland with over 150 third parties receiving information from the system. In a typical month, SCI Store is actively used by over 30,000 clinicians and administrators.

So, if I'm ill in another part of Scotland, there will be full access to my medical history. Resources are saved by not repeating tests I've already had.

Not much use if I fall off the waltzer at Blackpool though  :#

Another issue which is worth considering, is that in this litigious society, doctors are far more likely to be sued, for not doing enough, than they are, for doing too much.

@KT53 - I have just liked, and then unliked, your post. What I am saying is I agree entirely with what you have written but to have ticked ‘like’ might just have been construed of approving of your friend’s awful, debilitating illness. A good friend of mine has MND.

No problem @BenCotto.  I suppose it could be misinterpreted but your comments are appreciated.
I remember when there was a debate as to whether or not a "Like" button should be introduced on this forum.
Despite the many misgivings voiced by some posters, it was decided to go ahead. Like several others who thought it unnecessary, I do use it but it can be misinterpreted at times.

You can just scan the 5G chips that Bill Gates injected into us with the covid-vaccine and find out all the information you need. Don't hide behind the lies, you're just keeping us alive for evil purposes.

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

My curmudgeon is reading about Emma Raducanu being stalked by an Am*zon delivery driver, with the result being she now feels afraid to go out alone. Very sad. Wouldn’t it be nice to live in a world where women didn’t feel like prey.

There have been far too many cases reported of delivery drivers stalking or harrassing women.  Those reported are probably just the tip of the iceberg.  One which did make me laugh though was of a delivery driver who made personal comments to a woman when making a delivery and then started texting her on the contact number.  What he didn't know was that the number was actually that of her boyfriend who actually played him along for a while before disclosing who he was and what would happen to said delivery driver if he didn't go away.  The driver was also sacked.
