We eat about 90% vegetarian/vegan now but we're not especially strict about it. I'm doing some work for the local butcher at the moment and he's very good at sourcing all his meat locally and ethically etc so I've been buying the odd chicken or whatever while I'm there. I've also just got my free box of organic meat from the yogurt company and that will be quite a few months worth of meat for us.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
There are also people who refuse to eat veggies - I know a few - so not exactly omnivores. If you eat any meat or fish you cannot call yourself a vegetarian and if you eat dairy products or eggs you cannot be vegan.
For me it's about balance and health, both mine and our eco-systems so I eat well brought up meat and poultry, fish and shellfish, dairy from local producers and eggs from our own hens. Lots of veggies form the garden, increasing amounts of fruit too but after that it's locally grown where possible and not out of season.
Have to support local farmers and producers in order to maintain local environments and economies.
