    Our first tulips?
Those Tulipa turkestanica ("botanical tulips") always start flowering at the very end of February, beginning of March, year after year. And they keep growing, and self-seeding, unlike the more "decorative" cultivated tulips, which decrease and flower less and less. I strongly recommend them.

@Papi Jo Lovely to see the Tulipa turkestanica and to read your recommendation. I planted a small clump last autumn and I am looking forward to them flowering and naturalising - leaves have appeared, but they are way behind yours!

Hi @Papi Jo, it's a tree fern, Dicksonia antarctica, which is evergreen.  I surrounded  the crown with multiple layers of horticultural fleece over winter to avoid frost damage.  The trunk is just two feet tall, allowing the fronds to fill in that space in the lower border.

Thank you @DOrdogne_Damsel for turning the photos! (How do you do that please?)

@Plantminded crop your photos slightly and they will load straight. A site glitch of many years that the mods can't be bothered to fix

Thank you @fire, I tried that several times but it wasn't having it!  I'm intrigued to know how the OP righted the same photos though!
