The plant that keeps on giving - Persicaria 'Dharjeeling Red'. Give it the right conditions and it'll flower from May to October, maybe even November. First shot taken today in poor light, the others earlier in the year.

That's a very impressive plant @LunarSea!  What are the secrets of your success?  I'd like to find a reliable Persicaria which will tolerate sandy but improved soil.

Thanks @Plantminded. Ours is on a north-facing bank on well-drained clay soil. I say 'well-drained' because this bank was a sort-of rockery covered in London Pride when we moved in. This whole bed of Persicaria has come from one plant. I've taken loads of cuttings over the years and tried growing it at the front of the house where it's very sunny but it doesn't do as well there. With sandy soil I think you'd struggle.

I play with plants and soil and sometimes it's successful

Thank you @LunarSea, I think you're right, it won't like my sandy soil, unfortunately!  I had another variety which gave up after this year's heat and drought, so lesson learned!
