@Valley Gardener I love your garden - so intricate, and the rocky areas are stunning. @JAC51 I didn't know you could get standard wisterias! How big is it, and how large is the container? I would love a wisteria but can only grow in containers, so always thought it was out of the question.
Gorgeous photos everyone. Every year I set out to post photos for the entire growing season and every year by about June / July I get so caught up in maintaining the garden that I forget to sit and enjoy / photograph it. So here's my flurry of early season photos. I will try harder this year...
Highlights so far have been the wallflowers, forget-me-nots and honesty. I wonder if the cultivated geum mai tai is outraged to have to share its space with the poppies...
First year for my calycanthus. I'm looking forward to seeing how it grows.
If the answer is yes then I appreciate that I've left it a bit late, but do I need to stake Angelica?
Thanks for posting, @Camelliad. Better late than never!
Which cultivar is your Calycanthus? I planted mine last year and it is growing nicely. I wanted a red (or white and red) flower one, but they didn't have any good-looking specimens at the nursery, so I got a Calycanthus floridus ‘Athens’ with greenish flowers (nice smell too).
And I don't think you need to stake your Angelica.
Thank you @Papi Jo - I've never seen that before. How lovely. I might have to find room for another. I have Hartlage Wine. I saw it for the first time on an NGS visit last year - it was three times the size and in full flower. Something for mine to aspire to!
I'm really enjoying your beautiful gardens so only fair I share some of mine. As I'm a newish girl I'll put one or two from last year and then catch up when the time comes this year. It's a cottage garden with a few modern twists.
Snowflakes are real stars right now by staircase. Best place to see them looking down
First rhododendron to start blooming this year is a new addition - Capistrano. Lovely vanilla yellow with pink pollen. Very young, only few buds so not much to show for shape right now haha
Weather here on the mountain seems to be very stable lately, but not too hot. So as lavenders start to really bloom, daffodils still stay strong and are also supplemented by another wave of later blooming ones
New favorites this year are gigantic "Finland"
and very elegant "Fortune" (especially the trumpet that looks like it has 6 petals of its own)

Do you know how long them bloom?
