    Yes. Carefully, several times. 

    It’s what bulbs do. It’s how they increase … I would’ve left it. It would have done no harm. In a few years the offset would have developed into a bulb big enough to flower, and you would’ve then had two. 
    As it is you’ve lost that and may have set back the root development of the main bulb. 

    I hope that you’ve repotted it carefully and that the roots haven’t suffered too much.  

    Now all you can do is to keep it moist and wait.
