funny how most of the gambing ads are after 9pm, when they reckon folk might have " had a few " ?
I had assumed this was watershed-based to avoid kids seeing them.  Am I just being naive?
This is the latest info I can find

Ofcom regulates how much time can be devoted to adverts. On average it must not exceed 7 minutes per hour with a maximum of 12 minutes in any one hour. Between 6 pm and 11 pm the maximum is 8 minutes. As American programmes are usually given an hour long slot but only last 42 minutes the slack time is occupied with trailers for other programmes.

I do not know if Ofcom regulations apply to the satellite broadcasters.

  • Didn't there used to be an ad which said "98% of cats prefer Kit e Kat " or something like that.  It never made clear how many cats took part in the poll  :D

OH commented on the proliferation of unintelligible perfume adverts. Hadn’t twigged that this is the usual run up to Christmas and Valentine’s Day, when desperate shoppers resort to buying expensive fragrances as they can’t think of anything else.
I’m really fussy about perfume, and would hate to have someone waste good money on something I might not like.
Also would wonder what someone thought of me, given how weird some of the images are!
OH is a big fan of Charlize Theron, but thinks she looks terrifying in the perfume ads!
He likes the ads with Natalie Portman rolling in the flowers, but I had to tell him that the perfume is not to my taste.

On Italian TV there is an advert, seemingly all year round, for a bed, featuring a young, scantily-clad woman rolling around on it. The bed is situated next to a large garden pond (?) - where else? To encourage you to buy it you can have "free" either a set of bedding or ... a dinner service! Doesn't make me want to throw anything at the TV but does make me think 'what on earth?' or rather something similar but with expletives  ;)

God, there are some really crap adverts here  :D

I dislike all adverts shown nowadays and I would like to throw a brick through my TV every time those Government information films come on.
@Ergates I know this is the opposite of your thread but, for me, the best advert ever was this one from 1998

I remember that John Lewis Christmas advert @Topbird .... but think the best one was the trampoline one with Buster the Boxer .... very clever.

I also loved the Cadbury's one with the gorilla that @B3 posted a few pages back.

Currently, the Lloyds TSB one with the horses is good, and the AA one with the wee dog with the big fan.

Hate all the Go Compare ones ... and all the funeral plan and naff house alarm ones.

On holidays in the US we were always amazed how many of the ads were either for  erectile dysfunction or for dealing with "roaches".

Usually a tight arse, I’ve given in and tomorrow will pay the £40.00 a year to have the ads removed.
It doesn’t work for live tv just anything from the hub.
There a 7 day free trial so I’ll see just what it does cover.
