Hi, im new to these forums but I desperately need help, I bought the limelight Hydrangea and it is now in a very generous size pot it was lovely. Now all the flowers are brown and the leaves and stem all look dead and twiggy, any help will be appreciated.

I have Vanille Fraise (which is related to Limelight). The leaves drop and the dead flowers remain on the stems.
I leave them until spring when I prune it all back and it soon starts re-growing.
So it's perfectly normal what your plant is doing

I'd remove the cow and the string too
You'll probably need to refresh the soil as well - and it does need to be in a soil based medium, not just compost if that's what it's in. There won't be enough nutrition in there for it to thrive, especially if it's staying potted. Some slow release food added at that point will help too.

It would be a good idea to remove the string if only to let the stems blow around in the wind for a few weeks - it'll beef them up a bit.
If you need to put it back on later in the season then you could
