Bencotto,B3,KT53, don't know about the last 20 years, even the last 2, media, advertising frightened of upsetting a particular group. Did anyone listen to Radio 4 yesterday, around 11 in the morning? Having vented my spleen regarding my son, talking to no:1 daughter a little while ago. She got made redundant mid November. First visits to Jobcentre an hour, then apparently meant to be 10 minutes. Benefit due 18th of the month. Balance of benefit zero. Tells the man behind the desk. He informs her she received £1.400 (coincidence that, with sons make believe credit for fuel) on the 12th. She assures him she's received nothing. He turns the screen to her says it's all in black and white, such and such, housing,UC,child benefit. She says "er,that's not me". Her "child"is 28 and has his own place, not dependent on mum!! Then bloke claims,"system failure" to my daughter who worked for TFL 10 years with 300 people under her,and personal and private banker before that. Oddly enough returning from my son, there was a black comedy on at 3 about a mentally ill claimant, have been in exactly this position with my son in the Jobcentre

The lady in the Waitrose ad is actress AshleyJensen, aka Agatha Raisin. Actually a very nice lady, lives near Bath. Not a flattering shot, but I think more the fault of the photo editor. It’s a bit like watching music videos with the sound off, not a pretty look!
  • Sorry @Ergates -  I'm sure she is quite angelic when not posing for Waitrose  ;)
The only Agatha Raisin I've seen/heard was played by Penelope Keith.

Ashley Jensen looks evil in the ad because she ate ALL of the stuffing.

We're discussing it so maybe the advert has done its job. Whether it would make me rush out and buy that pink stuff on the plate is another matter.

It’s her toothless, eyeless companion who worries me more.🤭
That's what eating all that stuff(ing) does to you  :D

It used to be said that there's no such thing as bad publicity but recent events have proved that to be a bit of a fib on the whole.
I'm guessing the Pink stuff could well be Pepper Pig -  having selflessly taken the blame for yet another of Boris's gaffes.

There's a big difference between an advert being memorable and being successful.  There have been plenty over the years that would put me off buying their product for ever.  The current one being for home alarms!

KT53, so true. When I get round to it, I shall start another thread on adverts, which ones we love or hate.
