  • Still need to wrap a few pressies @bluebellsinthewild  I'll do the rest tomorrow, they are all fiddly ones to wrap. I've been wrapping for a few hours and would like a break from wrapping. I've had lunch and will whizz round with the sucky thing in a mo.
@Songbird-1 We saw some beautiful window displays and had a lovely day out.
@Rubee sorry to hear about your engineer, always a sad time, but near Christmas makes it feel worse.

    Afternoon all,

I've finally managed it  ;) Peace, goodwill and 470ml of my very best to all men (and anybody else who needs it, for that matter).

Aside from not being able to find the venue, not being able to find where on site the blood service were based, having to queue to register my car at the reception, having to queue to register my presence, almost being turned away due to arriving after my appointment time (see previous for the reasons why!), having to persuade them that I was ok to donate despite my OH having Covid recently and a FIRE ALARM GOING OFF and having to evacuate the building :o, it all went very smoothly :D

    Good evening to all.

Gosh, I have 52 massages to read since yesterday morning. My schedule was packed today. We had a small Christmas party at school (only teachers), then I went to cottage, and now I expecting one of my friends to come. He needs potatoes for Christmas. Also, I had proper, long walk with Max, and he enjoyed. He is much better, but we must still be careful.
I'll be totally free tomorrow, everything is prepared and I can rest now.

Have a nice evening and I'll see you little bit later.

Afternoon all. Well Bestie and I never stopped from arriving at the food bank at 09:15 until 12:00. There were quite a few volunteers and we had to pack up all the necessary food parcels allocated. There are specific tick lists which we have for a single person, a small family and a large family so we do know what we have to pack. On top of that we had a large delivery which had to be weighed, dated, recorded and put away. I still haven't quite grasped why we have to weigh all the items but it has to be done. When I say dated we just mark the 'best by' date in large black marker pen on each item so that we can easily see the dates whilst sorting. We had our pictures taken for the local paper. Bestie had her elf hat and I had my santa hat. Probably looked quite bizarre with our masks on!
Once we got back to Bestie's we ate and then I had my hair done. I'm ready for a rest now.

Ruby, I was so sorry to hear about your engineer and his loss. As others have said, it is not ever a good time to lose someone close but in the Christmas season it is particularly poignant.
SGL, what a mix up with your Lily's TV. Glad its all sorted.
Biglad, if that story of ineptitude was written in a book, no one would believe it but I'm glad that you finally managed to do your blood donor duty.
Hazel, it was a sensible move of you and your OH deciding just to turn for home.
Ante, cheery news about Max - as you say - just keep walks simple for now but it is positive news that he enjoyed his walk. Feet up now Ante.

When it looked like I might get turned away, I was on the verge of going full Michael Douglas in "Falling Down" @Ladybird4 :o My next appointment is already booked for March so I can forget all about it for 3 months. Thankfully!

Well done on your volunteering - a really worthy thing to do at any time of year but particularly so at Christmas. I hope you feel pleased with yourself whilst you've got your feet up this evening.

@Biglad I think you are very brave and generous to persevere with giving your blood.

It's really kind of you and Bestie volunteering at the food bank @Ladybird4.

I've whipped round with a microfibre cloth, sorted drawers of sewing stuff and watched Cinderella on TV.

Thank you so much for your comments Biglad and Busy. Working in the food bank reminds me yet again of the overwhelming kindness of people who donate all sorts of food and monies to assist. This particular food bank has only just started up and already we have received sponsorship of over £700 and pledges of support from the town council and the borough council. We are currently serving 22 families. We are blessed with many volunteers and Bestie and I are next there on 17th February.
