Late bloomers
What do you have in your garden that is blooming very late?
I placed loads of mixed flower seeds in February (the kind that comes in a packet from the supermarket with the words "easy to grow!" in big letters) and they have all been very slow to grow. No flowers at all in spring or summer but the cosmos and a couple of snap dragons are finally starting to bloom. The fuchsia is still covered in flowers, and one of the flowering quince shrubs has new flowers. Oddly these are all on the shadier north side of the house. Everything that gets sun on the south side is mostly finished.

I'm a runner (and a sad case) and all my runs are recorded with temperatures. I went today - 12°c and I looked at a run I did exactly one year ago - 6°c, so we're at double last year's temperature!
