My car is both bossy and clever. Driving back from the Lake District last week it flashed up a message on the screen saying I had been driving for four hours and needed to take a break. Helpfully, it then listed the nearest cafƩs, service stations and rest areas.

Likewise, when the low fuel light activates it puts up a map not just showing where the nearest filling stations are, it also lists the prices.

Ā But you don't want to be going in a cab until the test result has come back negative. It might just be a cold, or it might not and anyway you wouldn't want to spread it around. Surely it should be possible to arrange free pickup as well as delivery of the test for people who're too unwell to go out.
I wouldn’t go in the cab … I’d ask the cab driver to deliver the package and pay him to do so.Ā
Cabbies here will pick up a takeaway so I’m sure they’ll post a Covid test. Ā Or Id pay for a neighbour to take the cab.Ā

My fiancĆ© is working away and as others have said I wouldn’t risk being in an enclosed vehicle with anyone, even if it’s not COVID it’s a horrible virus. I have got around it but it just surprised me that so many obstacles are put in place for non drivers. If they want people to test they should make it easier.Ā

I don’t think I could ask a cab driver to take a parcel marked biological substance. Not everyone can afford a taxi and it’s not the expense ( the courier is free) it’s the massive time inconvenience of now waiting another day for results. If I was well and wanting to be back at work I would be furious. I am personally not that bothered but thinking of others who might lose wages waiting around. Why not more walk in centres?Ā

Trivial but, as a 'bear of very little brain' , I was wondering why so much capacity is used up by random bits of music and songs.Ā  Someone mentions Winchester or Waterloo or wassailing and off it goes.

  • I know what you mean @B3 … what is the purpose of ear worms … do the have a function or are they a glitch in the ā€˜computer’ that is my brain?Ā

Why does my brain remember what Polly Oliver was doing in bed:Ā  what I was doing in the ash grove; what happened to the poor ol dog on the Irish Rover; how many long stations is Finchley Central from Golders Green; where he went to see a total eclipse of the sun
