  • Spanish Bluebells? Thanks Jenny. Can I show more ignorance now  and ask if the "tails" on them are shoots or roots. So I can replant them the right way up next spring.
  • We have lots of them in the garden, they grow wild.  In Scotland they are wild hyacinths, in England I think they call them bluebells.  The dark bits are the roots. If you are planting them, dig them up and thin them out every couple of years, and remove the dead flower heads before they cast seed everywhere.

I don't really know - I just get the fork in when I see the leaves appearing and hoik out as many as I can. They are thuggy invasive so-and-sos.

  • So I have solved the problem. They are snowflakes!  I potted them up and left them, and last week some buds appeared, which have now opened. Not all have buds, but enough to be able to say they are all the same.  I hadn’t thought of Snowflakes, not something you see a lot of.

Lovely! I have a few of those but they were bought growing in pots so I didn't actually see the bulbs when I planted them. Doh!
