    Good morning all.

I'm going for my flu jab later this morning in a local pharmacy.

Does anyone know if it's too soon to prune climbing roses? I'd like to do them before I leave on the 4th. Normally I prune in Feb March but who knows what will happen with Covid and travel restrictions.

  • Morning @Busy-Lizzie I haven't pruned my climbing Roses....apart from trimming a bit in September when cutting a few of the Roses off... .........and will leave them now because we've had a few frosts. I usually do mine around March. But understand your thoughts about problems with covid. Sorry that's probably not very helpful.
Hope all goes well with your flu vaccine.
  • It's supposed to be turning much colder next week @Busy-Lizzie ... my thoughts are that will persuade the roses that winter has arrived and then they'll shut down and it'll be ok to prune them before you have to leave.

Afternoon all. I have finished a few hours in the garage. I moved some daisies from troughs at my front door and put them in pots to see if I can get them to overwinter in the GH and I finally got round to planting the violas I got the other day when I was out with my Bestie. I am hoping that they will fill out but I might get some crocuses to poke in with them tomorrow as I'm going out with my sis and a friend to a GC.
Hope the flu vaccination goes OK Busy - no reason why it shouldn't really. You may have already mentioned this, and if so I apologise, but will you be spending C*******s in France?

I don't know yet where I will spend Christmas LB. If I'm not in the UK then OH does have family here that he can go to.

The flu vaccination was horrible, worst I've had, needle felt blunt and it felt as though she wiggled it about then gave the vaccine very fast. When I had it done in France last year I hardly felt a thing. At least it's done.

Oh my goodness, I am so sorry to hear that your vaccination was a nightmare Busy. I do hope that you do not have any more trouble with your arm tomorrow.

  • Lily the poppy display is impressive but sad of course and also kind for people to make it. Also a lovely letterbox bonnet.  I’m glad your power is back on now. Hazel I hope all went well with your journey to visit mum.  Busy sorry to hear your flu jab experience wasn’t very good.  It can be quite a different experience.  LB I do love daisies and they look very good in pots.  I hope you have something soothing for your cough.  I’ve been to visit today and then back to potter round.  Ante you made me smile with the bed head hairstyles of some of your students.
  • Good evening everyone,
Hazel I hope the journey went well today, have a lovely visit with your mum,
LB That vanilla sugar looks lovely I’m tempted to try it on top of a Victoria sponge. Sounds like you’ve had a good day getting your Violas planted, have a nice time with bestie tomorrow,
Rubee I hope you managed to clear some of the leaves and move the pots without too much trouble today,
Ante Your post really made me laugh at the thought of the students bed hairstyles 😂
Dove I’m pleased you didn’t have any ill effects from your booster jab,
Busy Your experience didn’t sound so pleasant  today, hope you don’t have any problems,
SGL Sorry you had a rubbish nights sleep, hope you’re feeling more restored now and hopefully no more power cuts,
Bluebells Hope your rellies are all keeping well, I saw my sister today which was nice. We went to look at range cookers as she is looking for a replacement. Annoyingly they’ve changed what used to be a really useful hotplate section on the hob and added a large Wok ring instead.
Seen some Chr***mas lights up in the neighbourhood 🎄
    Have a lovely evening All.

Good evening all. I am not pleased to say that it is raining!
Chive, I am out with my sis and another friend tomorrow - Bestie's on Thursday as per usual. Eek nooooooooooooooo! C*******s lights! I blame Ante! He mentioned his the other night I wonder why the range producers think that everyone may like a wok ring! If I had a range in my kitchen, there wouldn't be room for anything else. My sis has one and hers does have a wok ring on it but she does use it regularly.
I am finding that more and more junk mail filled with festive season info are showering through my letterbox. I resent the time it takes me to shovel them all into the recycling bin. Ooh I am sounding grumpy but I don't like junk mail at all. Sorry people - rant over.
I am signing out for tonight. I'll see you all in the morning.
