Good news @Gwenr. Fingers crossed for the Mum 🦔.
Just to add that if anyone is unsure of the location of their nearest rescue, the BHPS have contact details on the attached link, and will do their best to help

Yes, I'm hopeful for mum, but sadly have been in this position many times before and even after a lot of tlc, I have lost some of the poor things, which is very sad, but at times has been a happy release for them.
We have had quite a high ratio of fly strike in the past couple of years, if not found in time to treat the hogs suffer dreadfully and a very slow death, so our call outs have been more this year than normal. Our own hogs are thriving, those in their own boxes, who stay and go out every night for a walk and those that visit.

Really? Just press ignore then @Gwenr.

I'm getting to the point of leaving this forum. As a highly respected forum member used to say  - too many takers of offence now.
    Have a nice day.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

    @Fairygirl
I'd say your comments regarding "blame" and " jumping to conclusion " seemed perfectly reasonable to me.

Thank you @Hostafan1. I'm just weary of it all.

That's sad that the mother didn't make it but as least you saved the babies. Agree about the slug pellets, there are even safe ones now but why use them at all? Doesn't really work and can actually attract slugs.

We found an injured hedgehog here a couple of months ago. Took it to the rescue but it had fly eggs in the wound and didn't make it they said. I was very sad but a few days later I saw a healthy one trotting along the path.

    * correction - maybe mum will make it, hope so.

I'd be surprised if she hasn't already.

People who make a habit of posting uninvited criticisms of others' opinions or actions which don't concern them, shouldn't be surprised if some object to the practice.

Nor should they whinge about it when they do.

Slug pellets are used as an attractant as opposed to a deterrent. Much the same as Rat bait - it attracts the creature but will kill it when consumed.  Otherwise there would be little point.
I am neither advocating nor decrying their use but if used sparingly and correctly with a care to other wildlife, it does work. The key words are Correctly and Sparingly. Slugs and snails are impossible to eradicate completely and why would we want to ?

Well I'd like a few less in my garden and as I've now got these very large green celler ones as well, it's becoming a bit overwhelming, but I won't use pellets. My nextdoor neighbour had a toad in her garden, I was green with envy, toads love eating slugs, but she found it dead on her grass one morning not long after scattering pellets down to protect her beans, such a shame.
