    The best time is in early Summer Sue when the leaves are in active growth.

    Hello Sue. It all depends on how big and congested the plants are in the plant pot. Once you have taken the plant out of the pot look for complete 'rosettes' and gently tug them apart and pot on into individual pots.
    I split mine (Polka-Dot Purple) a couple of months ago the way @Ladybird4 described. Will be interesting to try the leaf technique next year.
