@Dovefromabove Sorry to hear your OH's father died from that awful condition and glad he routinely takes all precautions.
I was just having a gentle leg pull relating to the plastic v timber thread,, it was such a coincidence you mentioning sandpapering plastic so soon after!🙂
Yes I know @Woodgreen 😉… and I do tease OH sometimes about his high degree of caution … but really I am glad he takes such care of himself … and of me.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I can certainly recommend Sakura Pen-touch for white writing on black plastic.
I used it on black border plant labels and on my wheelie bin and 18 months later it's still clear and not faded, flaked or washed off. I imagine it's a similar product to the Poska pens.
Found mine- in the last possible place of course! Turns out it's a uni posca, so no wonder it's needed scrubbing off 😂 I only got it because it was the finest tip I could find.
I use white chalk pen for writing price signs for the market and stand, they stay on for at least 2 seasons including rain and since on the stand they are laid flat they get and stay very wet, the pen brand is Uni posca. (are they the only makers!).
When freshly applied it will rub off but after a week you can't get it off well enough to reuse the sign no matter what you do.
I missed this post altogether😕 I have 2 large pieces of slate, and not sure what to do with them. I agree pens are an easier option. You have to be so careful what you use.Youre obviously testing them all @Fire for waterproofing. Be wary of the "water resistant" description,it seems to mean "they might be". Are you sorted now? If not I can put a pic on of the white ones I use, very fine but completely waterproof.
The whole truth is an instrument that can only be played by an expert.
Thanks @Valley Gardener - I bought the Decorite pen first, as it was recommended at the time. I'll see how it does. Hopefully it will have the 'curing' effect that others mention and will somehow 'set' over time and the writing will stay put. I'll put the signs out next week and see how they do in all the rain.
