  • OH is awake now … he thinks the chalk pens he used on the wheelie bins were Posca

Thanks Dove. I asked a professional company who they use and they recommended ZIG Posterman waterproof chalkboard pens.

Good to know that chalk pens can really work on plastic. Very clever stuff!

  • It wasn’t ‘brand new’ plastic … it was a bit weathered, and knowing him he probably gave the surface a quick rub with fine glasspaper. He’s very thorough. 😊

How did he dispose of the sanding dust? 😉

Apologies if this has been mentioned - but can you get a white Chinagraph pencil?

The black ones are best for white plant labels. Everything else washes off.

I did get some Chinagraph pencils after a recomm on the forum, but haven't found them useful at all.

Sanding everything first seems to the answer to most things.
  • @Woodgreen  😊 Knowing him he will have been wearing a mask and will have been using a small handheld vacuum and then ‘damp wiped’.…. I kid you not … his father died of mesothelioma far too young. My OH takes all the recommended precautions … and then some … honestly 😊 👍

Fair enough @Fire - I wasn't sure if they would work on slate.

I also tried the Chinagraph on plastic labels and it didn't work for me at all. I use Write 4 All on plastic and it's great stuff. It comes off with nail polish remover, so I can use the labels again.

I am currently trying several layers of chalk paint on the slate signs, drying between coats.
