Confessions of the plantaholics...... again

I’m not a plantaholic,  but I am a seedaholic,  I’m trying  really hard not to buy any apart from veg seed for next year.
I don’t get any kick out of buying a plant but I know a lot of people do.
I love that Astrantia,  but I got more out of sowing the seeds someone on our seed swap sent me many years ago and taking seeds each year from those.
I love to walk round the garden and remember who sent them to me.

Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

It’s awful how often I end up ordering more things that I need to take the total over the free postage minimum. I used to feel guilty using my credit card for very small amounts, and would pop a few extras in my basket to take the total up. At least the pandemic and the change to contactless payments has cured me of that.
Going to Ikea for lighting parts, but the route to the tills goes through their garden section. If I get home without a few extra houseplants ( always temptingly cheap and healthy looking ) plus some coordinating pots, it’ll be a miracle. At least it’s an improvement on a bag of tealights and a pile of paper napkins!

1 peace lily and a pot. No tealights.

  • It happened again and it wasn't even a shop,  a stand outside someone's house in the middle of nowhere!!

I went into B&Q at the weekend for a bag of grit to pot up some sempervivums that were doing less well than I'd hoped in the ground, and came out with a Verbena Margaret's Memory (one of the low-ish spreading types, pink with a dark eye) for £2 and a Salvia Caradonna £1 from the clearance shelf How did that happen? .

  • @JennyJ at those prices I'd expect you to confess if you hadn't rescued them! Your amongst friends here.... we don't judge

I've banned myself from online shopping @Perki, it's too dangerous!!! 😱😉

@WonkyWomble , they were good big pots of healthy plants too, just more-or-less finished flowering for this year. The salvia will probably split into 2 or 3 for planting out to make a nice clump. Couldn't possibly leave them languishing there......

  • @Lyn I've been on a real seed gathering blitz this year as well as digging up self seeders! 👌
@Busy-Lizzie, I justified it by remembering that @Dovefromabove is fond of Astrantia and thought i could divide it with her when it got bigger,  there's always an excuse....I mean reason 😄
  • Your garden will look glorious @JennyJ and not only that you will have the dosh you saved to buy a bottle,  sit back and enjoy it! You did the right thing!!
