Confessions of the plantaholics...... again

My customers keep sending me to the nursery,  it's not my fault!! And they have a rescue me sale shelf!!! And a points rewards scheme where you get free plants!!! There is no hope for me! I thought the fuel shortage might stop me but I found some after 3 days trying. 😅 



No room whatsoever! 🤣

    I do that go Garden centre to pick something up for a client feel left out and buy something for myself . Its even worse if you find something unexpected and think it be far better in my garden than theirs >:) .  Don't get me started when I have to buy online I have a field day then,  you know just to make the posted up ;) .

    That's cheap for astrantia

    I'm so glad it's not just me!! I feel its part of my job to trial plants and buy plants I can take cuttings from is another excuse  ;)

    I was just about to leave the garden centre empty handed at RHS Rosemoor on Saturday when I spotted some Allium schubertii, so I had to buy 3 packs

    I feel your pain @Hostafan1, I got hijacked by 2 packs of bulbs when I went to lidl, lovely golden crocus and pheasant eye dafs  😍

    It’s certainly a guilt thing with me. Despite spending a fortune on breakfast at the Donkey Sanctuary ( all profits going to the Donkeys)I’ve convinced myself that spending money in their shop also makes up for using their free-admission grounds for my favourite walks. Just a quick look at the plant sales area, I tell myself, I won’t buy anything, fat chance of that.
    there is another garden centre which we frequent for coffee and cake, and the occasional lunch. Again I feel guilty if I don’t at least look round the plants. Never come out empty handed. Still haven’t found a spot for that fig tree I didn’t need.

    Exactly @Ergates I suffer the guilt thing too if I don't support the local independent business run by a team of knowledgeable plants women.  They have also created a lovely wildlife test garden where they trial plants and different growing methods. So really it's learning too. Or so I tell myself,  heaven help me if they sold cake!

    I have been very good @WonkyWomble - your mum gave me a link to a lovely plant on a well known plant site (OK, it was Beth Chatto) and into my basket it went. But in order to justify the postage in went a few other choice things.  But I was saved by realising that it really wouldn't do to be buying more plants (oh yes - some picked up at the GC when buying compost yesterday) when I haven't properly decided which beds I want to refresh for next year, so didn't go ahead with the purchase.

    That's impressive! @didyw I'm not sure if i could be so disciplined with myself although I did put one plant back as I couldn't be sure it would get home in one piece!

    @WonkyWomble, who could resist an Astrantia called "Star of Passion"? And at that price too.

    I am a plantaholic and I don't feel guilty. OH said "at least you don't waste money on clothes and make-up", (though I'm not so sure about the clothes bit!).
