People who follow this thread will know a pack of bloodsucking bats descended on me right in front of their eyes and I exposed them saying "bats" who are now trying to cover up their behaviour.

Cherry Blossom trees are the ones that flower in pink.

You can have an actual cherry tree that usually blooms white and that will produce fruit for making jam.  I just allow the squirrels, birds, and fruit flies to eat the fruit.  I pick one and eat it every now and then.

Ornamental Cherry Blossom trees come in both pink (various shades) and pure white

The most famous of which is ‘Tai-Haku’ the Great White Cherry of Japan.

Morello are a ‘sour cherry’ usually used for cooking …. but many other varieties of ‘orchard’ cherry are available

I have had cherry blossom trees that bloom in pink and cherry trees that bloom in white that one can make jam with.   I am going to put one of the jam fruit ones in the garden.  I usually let the birds and squirrels have the fruits in the trees; and foxes and hedgehogs eat the ones that fall.

I’m sure that’s very likely. It’s just that you seem to believe that your own experience is the sum total of all there is to know in the subject.

It is misleading to state as you have above that

“…. Cherry Blossom trees are the ones that flower in pink….….You can have an actual cherry tree that usually blooms white and that will produce fruit …”

It implies that the colour of the blossom is a way of differentiating between ornamental and orchard or culinary varieties of cherry, which it is not.
