If you live in the UK and don't have a garden compost waste bin, there are bags you can buy made of paper for like £1.25 each. If you fill it up and leave it near your recycling bins the council picks it up. It is too much to hire someone at £20 an hour for this. There is so much you can buy in actual plants with that money. Do a little bit at a time yourself - a small patch every fortnight or so. It is such a healthy and enjoyable thing to do -- healthy for your body and mind.
What you have done so far is great, Bede. Please don't use weedkill or other herbicides. It kills bees, butterflies, moths and other essential insects and are bad for human health too.
