The patio looks much better for a good weeding! It's a shame someone decided to put red paint on it at some point though. It's already flaking so it might be worth trying a pressure washer if you can borrow one, and see if that will shift some more of the paint.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

I've just seen your post @Lizzie27 - gravel just moves over a solid surface like paving, when you walk on it, especially when it's wet.
    That's looking a whole lot better already @amandabretnall42cPYbXutD  :)
You can get paint for using on paving - it might be worth seeing if there's something suitable that you could use to just tart that up a bit. If you're able to get some mortar [in short supply just now unfortunately] you might be able to fill the crack and gaps too. Alternatively, make them bigger and plant some low growing, spreading plants in the spaces.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

    Thankyou.
Good idea I shall try the pressure washer I think x

    Looks heaps better, well done.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

My brother broke his ankle very badly when gravel on a hard surface moved under his foot as he walked on it ... it can be very dangerous indeed.  :o

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

    Many thanks.

    Ouch hope he's ok now
  • The ankle is mended thanks 😊 … but he’s a farmer and it was a busy time of year … he was ‘rather annoyed’ 🤬 … 😉
