Bulbs. Grit or no grit.
When planting bulbs, mostly daffs & tulips, I drop a small handful of grit in the hole and sit the bulb on it.
This is following years of advice in magazines & newspapers because bulbs don't like sitting in wet soil.
Now two columns in a week, one by Alan Titchmarsh, have said the opposite. 'The bulb must be pressed hard into the bottom of the hole for good root contact.' Both can't be right. So do we grit or not ? What do other gardeners do ?

They rot here very easily, even in pots.
Some bulbs will cope better than others though.
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I don't know where you live, or what your climate is, but I certainly have to keep some pots against the house wall from now until spring, especially tulips, but I've lost daffodils to winter wet. It depends on your weather.
